The Los Angeles Lakers are going to be working out LiAngelo Ball, Lonzo Ball’s younger brother, following the holiday weekend.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been hard at work evaluating prospects for the 2018 NBA Draft. The Lakers have held numerous pre-draft workouts. Some, such as the one that local product and USC forward, Chimezie Metu, participated in drew more attention than others. The next workout the team is holding will blow away any other workout in terms of attention.

Following the holiday weekend, the Lakers will be hosting a workout with LiAngelo Ball, the younger brother of point guard and No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Lonzo Ball.

Los Angeles said they would take a closer look at LiAngelo, and the time will come on May 29th. Liangelo will join five other prospects at the UCLA Health Training Center for the workout.

Ball will be joined by his former UCLA teammate, Thomas Welsh, Jaylen Adams of St. Bonaventure, Tyus Battle of Syracuse, Devon Hall of Virginia and Dusan Ristic of Arizona.

This will be an interesting workout for Ball. He is playing against some very talented, offensive-minded players. His defense has been questioned, so this will be a good opportunity to showcase his talent on that side of the court.

Ball’s strength, though, is on offense. He is a very good shooter and has a much more polished offensive game than Lonzo. LiAngelo averaged 12.6 points per game while playing in Lithuania for Vytautas Prienu.

Ball ended up in Lithuania, along with LaMelo, the youngest Ball brother, after beginning the season at UCLA. Ball was involved in an off-court incident when the team was in China, which resulted in him being suspended. Instead of sitting out the season, he was taken out of UCLA and headed overseas.

Ultimately, LaVar Ball, the patriarch of the family, is hoping that all of his sons land with the Lakers. LaVar hopes they are all wearing the purple-and-gold eventually. He spoke about it recently during an appearance on ESPN Radio Los Angeles.

"“First priority is to get Gelo on the Lakers,” LaVar said on ESPNLA radio recently. “Everybody In the world says, ‘Hey, it won’t work.’ This is the best fit. Look for the position they need. You say Lonzo needs to [get] stronger and [be a better] shooter. I’m bringing you a stronger one and a shooter. He’s a pure scorer.”“Gelo has to be seen — not talking about on a highlight tape — in person, to see what type of guy he is, the way he’s built. The way he plays the game. Whenever they play together, they are great together.”"

LiAngelo has much more size than Lonzo, as he is listed at 230 pounds while Lonzo is listed at 190. His 3-point shot is arguably his best asset at this time as well, which he showed off during workouts at the Professional Basketball Combine at IMG Academy.

Like LaVar, LiAngelo would love to play alongside his brother again. However, he is ready and willing to play with any team that takes a chance on him.

"“The Lakers are my priority, for sure,” LiAngelo said recently on the Marcellus and Travis show on ESPNLA radio. “I want to play with my brother. Ever since I played with Zo, we went undefeated. When we get older, we will get stronger, faster and a better feel for the game.”“I’m willing to play for other teams, but my priority is to play with my brother.”"

The Lakers own the No. 25 and No. 47 picks in the 2018 NBA Draft. There is an outside chance that the 47th overall pick is used on LiAngelo. However, it seems more likely that he will go undrafted.

At that point, the Lakers could bring him on for the Summer League with a chance to earn a two-way deal in the fashion that Alex Caruso did last year.
