Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors revolve around Mitchell Robinson, who is drawing serious interest with the No. 25 overall pick.

Los Angeles Lakers rumors have picked up in recent days. With the 2018 NBA Draft quickly approaching there has been plenty of chatter about where prospective prospects could land. A number of Lakers rumors have involved prospects, with the most recent one being Mitchell Robinson.

Following the NBA Draft Combine, it was reported that the Lakers had made a promise to center, Mitchell Robinson. Robinson had stopped working out and people believed it was because a team made a promise to him, and that team was the Lakers.

Along with Robinson, it was also reported that Boise State’s Chandler Hutchinson received a promise from the Chicago Bulls.

However, just days after the supposed promise from the Lakers, the report was refuted. Here we are about a week later and there are more Lakers rumors involving Robinson.

While the Lakers may not have made a promise to Robinson, their interest in him hasn’t waned. According to Adam Zagoria New York Times Sports and SNY, the Lakers are seriously considering Robinson with the No. 25 overall pick in the draft.

If Robinson is around at No. 25, the Lakers will have a difficult time passing up on him. While Robinson opted to not play collegiately last season at Western Kentucky, there is no denying the immense talent and potential he has.

Robinson was a five-star recruit coming out of high school. He is a springy athlete, which enables him to be a great rebounder and shot blocker. Robinson has the size to be a difference maker at that end of the court in the NBA.

Offensively, he is a strong finisher around the rim. He can also shoot the ball and with range. Consistency is key with his jump shot, but the tools are there for him to stretch his range out to the 3-point line.

Sitting out the 2017-18 season won’t sit well with some organizations, but there is no denying the potential that he has. This is a lottery talent that could slip to the end of the first round. If that occurs, expect the Lakers to take full advantage and add another young piece to their frontcourt.

Right now, a center is really the only spot that the Lakers don’t have a young player to develop. Mitchell would be a worthwhile prospect to develop at the spot if he is available with the No. 25 pick.
