The inevitable has become official as Los Angeles Lakers guard, Josh Hart, has won MVP of the Las Vegas Summer League.

I think it is safe to say that last nights double-overtime thriller between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers was just another showcase of why Josh Hart should rightfully be the MVP of the Vegas Summer League.

But now Josh Hart can go ahead and clear a spot on his shelf as he is now officially the MVP of the Summer League

Now granted, Josh Hart has not been the only Laker to show that he has the skills to play at this level. While Hart scored a game-high 37 Points on 13-for-28 from the field, Svi Mykhailiuk also poured in 31 points while knocking down six 3-pointers.

But is has been Josh Hart’s play on both ends of the floor, along with his leadership of their Summer League team, who was already operating without their 25th overall pick Moritz Wagner and starting point guard Alex Caruso, that helped fuel his rise to the top of the MVP ladder.

Obviously, the end goal for the newly minted MVP is to lead the team to the Summer League Championship. After yesterdays grueling battle with 8th overall pick Collin Sexton, I think he is ready for that challenge.

But I think that Hart putting up big numbers in the Summer League bodes well for him once training camp starts.

With a stacked guard lineup of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Lance Stephenson and Svi Mykhailiuk, Josh Hart is making a serious case of why he should be the starting shooting guard on opening day.

While it is just Summer League, I think it is blatantly clear that Josh Hart has put in the work this offseason and is ready to take that next step of being a solid building block for a contending team.

He is clearly using any and all opportunities to better himself as a player and I think that is a good sign to Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka and I believe they will take notice.

As for now, I’m excited to watch the Lakers take home their second consecutive Summer League Championship led by Hart. I just hope that if the Lakers win, no one will start complaining about the Lakers ruining Summer League because of their dominance over the last two years.
