The Los Angeles Lakers opened up a roster spot when they agreed to a buyout with Luol Deng. Here are four reasons they should sign Jamal Crawford into that open roster spot.

The Los Angeles Lakers did a majority of their roster overhaul in early July. The Lakers were active at the onset of free agency, landing the star player they coveted in LeBron James. They did not stop there.

Following the signing of James, Los Angeles retained Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. After that, they brought in a number of veteran players to fill out the roster. Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Rajon Rondo and Michael Beasley were signed after that.

The Lakers regular season roster looked pretty much set after that. However, the team agreed to a buyout with disgruntled forward Luol Deng. With Deng’s contract off the books, the Lakers will be players in free agency once again in 2019. However, it also opened up another roster spot for the team this season.

While the Lakers reportedly have no immediate plans to fill the open roster spot, there are some players that are worthy of the final roster spot. One of the players that are rumored to be in the running for the spot is Jamal Crawford.

The 18-year veteran played with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season but opted out of his deal to hit free agency this past July. That decision has not yet paid off, as Crawford remains a free agent despite some training camps beginning next week.

Despite entering the season at 38-years old, Crawford looks like he still has plenty in the tank to offer. Last season he averaged 10.3 points per game with the Timberwolves, playing in 80 games.

Crawford would make for a strong addition to the Lakers roster despite his age. Here are four reasons the Lakers should use their open roster spot by signing Crawford.
