Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors involve rookie Moritz Wanger, who has reportedly agreed to a shoe deal with Jordan Brand.

Los Angeles Lakers rumors have picked up recently as the season is quickly approaching. With training camp beginning this week, there will be plenty of Lakers rumors about which players could make the regular season roster. There will also be a lot of talk about potential lineups.

One player to keep an eye on is Moritz Wagner. The Lakers selected Wagner with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. His offensive skill set is NBA ready, but his defense has a long way to go.

With the lack of depth at center, the Lakers will have to get creative to fill the minutes. Wagner will have a shot, and Michael Beasley has been discussed as a potential option at center as well. JaVale McGee is expected to start but is limited minutes-wise because of his asthma.

While Wagner will have to earn his minutes on the court, he is already succeeding off of it. According to sources, Wagner will be signing a multi-year deal with Jordan Brand as his outfitter.

The apparel and shoe business is very popular in the NBA. Landing a deal as a rookie is quite an accomplishment, as it means the company has a lot of confidence in you to succeed on the court and showcase their apparel.

Wagner was a Jordan Brand athlete by extension in college. He played collegiately at Michigan, who was a Jordan school. Even the football team donned the Jumpman logo on their jerseys. Players take pride in the shoes that they wear, as the shoe companies go at it to sign players much like teams do in free agency when a player becomes available.

This year, the NBA has made some changes. They will allow players to wear any shoe of their choosing regardless of if it matches the team’s jersey.

In the past, players had to abide by uniform color rules so that the shoes were neutral or match the jersey. Wearing different colored shoes used to be reserved for holidays and special occasions, such as Christmas Day or Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Nike and Adidas are the biggest names, but Under Armour has been growing with Stephen Curry as the face of their operation.
