Point guard Brandon Ingram should make an appearance yet again for the Los Angeles Lakers, and it is something that will excite fans.

Point guard Brandon Ingram arrived almost inevitably last season as the Los Angeles Lakers were ravaged with an injury bug for their guards.

During Ingram’s rookie year, the same experiment was presented by Luke Walton as a way to get the wiry wing more involved in the offense. The overall process seemed forced and made Ingram confused about when to get his own shot versus getting his teammates involved.

The situation left fans with mixed feelings about whether they wanted to see it again or not. Thus, when Luke was presented with this opportunity again, he chose to start point guard Ingram.

At first, BI showed the struggle of not being able to a playmaker and shot creator, but a sit-down with Luke helping Ingram understand to play more uptempo ended up unlocking the Lakers offense.

More from Lake Show Life

Ingram went on to average 19ppg/5.5rpg/5.7apg during the Lakers best stretch in over six years, going 17-8. They amassed two four-game winning streaks and one five-game winning streak, including the longest win streak on the road since 2009.

Point Ingram made the Lakers not only solid defensively, with each player in the line up being 6’5 and over with long wingspans, but offensively the Lakers were finally able to bridge the gap in their half-court offense and fast break leading to a dangerous young squad ready to battle.

Each game seemed to make Ingram become more willing to try those fullcourt bombs Lonzo Ball achieves, and even displayed passes I did not think we’re in his arsenal.

So, with Rajon Rondo out, Ingram gets another chance at showing Laker fans his unique abilities at PG. This also gives fans a chance to see LeBron James and Ingram play staggered minutes in which Ingram gets to play with the bench.

A small part of Lakers Twitter has been preaching this as well. They believe letting Ingram attack with shooters and Tyson Chandler setting his hard picks would help not only the Lakers bench be consistent, but give Ingram the confidence that would help bring this team to another level.

LeBron can be Superman, but for the Lakers to reach their potential Ingram needs to be unleashed. With Rondo out for 4-5 weeks, the opportunity is there for the taking.
