– MVP Caliber player

While there is usually a case that can be made for both sides in most trades, it usually comes down to what type of player that the team is getting. In this case, the Lakers would be getting one of the best players in the league in Anthony Davis.

In seven seasons, Davis is averaging 24 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game. After being selected with the first overall pick by New Orleans, it didn’t take long for Davis to emerge as a star in the league. In his second season, Davis was able to average over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Over the last three seasons, Davis has really taken that big step forward from being an All-Star to a superstar. During that span, Davis is averaging over 28 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks per game. These are fantastic stats for Davis, and have made him an MVP caliber player in the league. For the Lakers, while the cost might be a good chunk of their young core, getting MVP caliber players doesn’t happen all that often. Also, they rarely become available. As a player that can do it all on the basketball court, the Lakers would be getting one of the most talented players in the league.
