We took a tour of the Los Angeles Lakers UCLA Health Training Center in February and came away extremely impressed.

When it comes to the Los Angeles Lakers, everything is top notch. That includes their state of the art training facility.

Everything is HUGE! It’s the place that has it all for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Lakers organization. It is the headquarters for the Buss Family, Rob Pelinka, Magic Johnson, Luke Walton and his staff. It also includes workout and recovery rooms, a lounge, kitchen, and more. Not a detail is missing in the Lakers UCLA Health Training Center.

It is clear when you walk through the UCLA Training Facility that you are short. The equipment throughout the facility is made for very tall people. From the message tables to the Stairmaster to the bathroom stalls and showers, and the height of where the towels are stored, if you aren’t six feet or taller, just forget about it!

Food, fun, barber chair, snacks, deodorant, and more; there is everything you would need or want in this place.

More from Lake Show Life

The film theater (not film room), is complete with leather reclining chairs in silver and we weren’t allowed to sit on them. Only the King and his team’s fannies are allowed in those. Players, coaches, employees, everyone can live there, no need to leave.

The colors are pleasant for anyone who loves the Lakers. They are black, purple, gold and shiny. The main practice room includes three courts. One is used for all the South Bay Lakers games. There is enough room for a press conference and four half courts of practice at the same time.

There was only one room that was off-limits to us on the tour, which was the Lakers locker room. The first thing that struck us was the number of pairs of basketball shoes in the room. LeBron James had by far the most pairs of shoes followed by…wait for it…Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Isaac Bonga had quite a few as well, the standout Adidas rep.

LeBron and Rajon Rondo’s lockers face each other. The veteran’s lockers are against the far wall apart from the rest of the team because each has an empty locker to the right of them.

The newest Lakers are closest to the front door. It’s more intimate than I thought it was, maybe eight feet between each side of the long room.

Here is our tour narrated by yours truly, excuse the giddiness.
