The Los Angeles Lakers will be filling their open roster spot with G League veteran, Andre Ingram.

At the NBA Trade Deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers opened up a roster spot in their trade with the Los Angeles Clippers. At the time, there were a lot of discussions had about who could fill that roster spot.

At the time, the Lakers were still hopeful of making a playoff push. They wanted someone that could help round out the roster, shoring up some holes on the team to help improve them. The buyout market is where that aid would come from.

Markieff Morris, Carmelo Anthony and Wayne Ellington were some of the names discussed. None of them ended up on the Lakers. Playoff positioning was a big reason why, and they ended up being right.

Morris and Ellington both joined teams, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit Pistons, poised to qualify for the postseason. Anthony remains unsigned in large part because he was waiting for the Lakers to get back into the playoff picture.

With only 16 games remaining in the season, the playoffs are not going to happen unless a miracle occurs. Los Angeles is 30-36, seven games out of the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

Missing the playoffs will disappoint fans, as the franchise long drought continues. However, they can find some solace knowing that roster spot will be filled by a deserving player.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Lakers will be filling that final roster spot with Andre Ingram. The team and Ingram agreed to a 10-day contract.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Ingram has an incredible story on his path to the NBA. He is an 11-year G League veteran who made his NBA debut at the end of last season when the Lakers called him up.

More from Lake Show Life

Ingram had a debut that was straight out of a Disney movie. The all-time leader in 3-pointers in G League history showed off his skills right away, knocking down four 3-pointers in his debut against the Houston Rockets.

Ingram is a career 45.1 percent shooter from distance in the G League. He has broken the 50 percent mark twice in his career; the 2011-12 season and 2016-17, when he knocked down 54.5 and 55.1 percent, respectively.

While Ingram isn’t shooting as prolifically this season, making only 35.5 percent of his 3-point attempts, a career-low by nearly five percent, he is still worthy of a call-up.

As Charania and Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum SportsNet reported, Ingram will be with the team when they begin their five-game road trip. As Bresnahan also shared, there are other players ahead of him right now, but he will get minutes right away.

This is a dream come true, once again for Ingram. Who would have ever thought he would be catching passes from LeBron James in a Lakers uniform? Tonight and for at least the next 10 days, he will be doing just that.
