Los Angeles Lakers superstar, LeBron James, was called out by New York Knicks legend and color commentator, Walt Frazier, for his bench etiquette.

The Los Angeles Lakers visit to New York City did not go as planned. The Lakers lost to the New York Knicks in a Sunday matinee, blowing a late fourth-quarter lead.

New York ended the game on a 13-1 run the final 3:14 of the game to come away with a 124-123 victory. For a game that involved two teams that have embraced losing and lottery balls the remainder of the season, this was quite an entertaining game.

With the loss, the Lakers record now drops to 31-39 on the season, as they were swept by the Knicks in their two meetings this season. In the first meeting of the season, LeBron James was sidelined with his groin injury. He was on the court this time, but could not will his team to a victory.

James ended up playing 35 minutes, which calls into question the minutes restriction that was supposedly being put on him. James finished the game with 33 points, eight assists, six rebounds and one block.

However, the lasting image from the game will be James getting his shot blocked by Knicks’ forward, Mario Hezonja, in the waning seconds of the game.

Surprisingly, that wasn’t even the low point for James during the afternoon. That would come during a timeout, when Knicks color commentator, the great Walt Frazier, offered his opinion of James.

Frazier, who is one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game and knows a thing or two about being a champion and leader, provided some stinging words for James, saying he needs to be a part of the team and care more.

James is talking to a teammate, but it is Tyson Chandler, who has played five minutes in March and been inactive more than active in recent weeks. While he was talking to a teammate, it doesn’t present the best image.

James went right to the end of the bench and sat down, giving Frazier’s comments some merit. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that James has presented himself in a less than flattering manner on the bench.

In a game recently against the New Orleans Pelicans, James was seen looking in the opposite direction of the huddle during a timeout, turning his back on head coach Luke Walton and his teammates.

Against the Indiana Pacers during the 42-point blowout, James sat at the end of the bench away from his teammates as well.

We don’t know the whole story, but these aren’t great looks for James. He is supposed to be the unquestioned leader for this group of young players, but this isn’t a great example to set.
