Los Angeles Lakers: 3 players Tyronn Lue will be good for outside LeBron James
It sounds like the Los Angeles Lakers are going to hire Tyronn Lue to be their head coach. Lue will be good for these three players outside of LeBron James.
While nothing has been made official yet by the Los Angeles Lakers, things are trending toward Tyronn Lue becoming the 27th head coach in franchise history. Lue was fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers six games into the 2018-19 season.
The Lakers and Luke Walton parted ways shortly after the season ended in what was a whirlwind few days for the organization. Magic Johnson resigned as president of basketball operations hours before the season finale against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Days later, Walton and the team decided to part ways and Walton quickly was scooped up by the Sacramento Kings to be their head coach.
Despite having two prominent positions to fill, a lot of the attention has been put on the head coaching spot. Los Angeles has been interviewing candidates for a few weeks now, as Monty Williams, Juwan Howard and Jason Kidd, in addition to Lue, all met with Lakers’ brass.
Williams seemed to be a top option, but before an offer was made, the Phoenix Suns swooped in and agreed to a five-year deal with Williams. Williams is currently an assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers and will finish out their season before heading to the Suns.
With Williams going to the Suns, that left the Lakers with Lue, who they reportedly had as their No. 1 option the whole time. Whether that is the case or not, Lue looks to be who they will be hiring as their next head coach in the coming days.
Los Angeles is reportedly putting a deal together for Lue. While some people won’t be happy about his arrival, as they believe it is another example of LeBron James running things, he will bring things to the Lakers’ sideline that they have been lacking in recent years.
The Lakers have an intriguing roster with some high-upside players outside James. These are three players that Lue will be good for outside of LeBron.
