4. Carsen Edwards

Carsen Edwards is a player everyone should be familiar with. The junior guard is probably most remembered for lighting it up from behind the arc, hitting 10 3-pointers against Virginia in the Elite Eight.

Scoring is his specialty as he averaged 23.4 points per game and 34.7 points in the NCAA Tournament this past season. He also shot 35% from three during the season and 45% in the tournament.

The Lakers are desperate for a 3-point shooter and Edwards could be the right pick to fill that void. Edwards could also be the ideal player to work with Lonzo Ball in the backcourt because Edwards can also play the shooting guard position. They both could take turns bringing up the ball but the Lakers could also run some plays using Edwards to shoot in times when they need a bucket, especially from three.

If there is a downside to Edwards it would be his height at 6’1. However, he makes up for this with his amazing scoring ability and athleticism. Another thing that could be a blemish is that he is 21 years old. Most of the players taken in the first round are 19 or 20 and played just one season of college basketball. Edwards played three seasons of college basketball but he showed significant growth in his game, improving his scoring each season.

Edwards may be a late first round pick, but I think he is worth the gamble and could be another scorer the Lakers drastically need.
