Lakers Rumors: Klay Thompson set to appear in Space Jam 2
Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors involve Space Jam 2, as we have learned of the first player reportedly joining LeBron James.
Lakers rumors have dominated the headlines in recent weeks. As a result of not qualifying for the NBA Playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers offseason began a little earlier than they had anticipated. Lakers rumors picked up quickly as a by-product.
Most Lakers rumors have involved the 2019 NBA Draft. Los Angeles got lucky during the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery, moving up from the No. 11 spot to the No. 4 spot in the draft. That made potential trade packages stronger and will give them an opportunity to select a higher-ranking prospect if they hold onto the selection.
There have also been plenty of free agency rumors involving the Lakers, who will look to make a big splash this summer. One of the players they could be targeting is Klay Thompson, who is involved more Lakers rumors than one.
Los Angeles would love to add the sharp-shooting guard to their roster, as he would be a perfect fit alongside LeBron James. Even if Thompson doesn’t leave the Golden State Warriors in free agency to join the Lakers, we could still see him alongside James on the court.
According to Jason McIntyre of Fox Sports, Thompson is locked into a role for Space Jam 2, which will also be staring James.

This is the first we have heard about players joining James on the big screen in Space Jam 2. It was originally reported that James was struggling to find people to join him.

There is a multitude of reasons players can’t join James in the move, as shoe contracts are much more difficult to navigate nowadays than when Michael Jordan starred in the original in 1996.
If Thompson is actually going to be in the movie, this will be yet another chance for James to try and recruit players to join him on the Lakers.
The NBA All-Star Weekend was basically a free tampering party for James, as the team he selected was almost every free agent that will be available this summer, Thompson being one of them. The Space Jam set will give James another chance to talk to and interact with some of the greatest players in the game today.
Free agency is another thing that McIntyre touched on when discussing Space Jam 2. Klay’s father, Mychal Thompson, is an announcer for the Lakers. Mychal also played for the organization, wearing the purple and gold for 4.5 years and winning two titles.

While no one knows for sure where Thompson will be playing next season, as it seems unlikely that he would leave the Warriors. If he does look to move on from Golden State, he would be an incredible addition for whichever team he ends up on.
