The Los Angeles Lakers look like they could be acquiring Anthony Davis in the coming days with trade talks heating up.

Fans of the purple and gold are going to be excited hearing recent Lakers rumors. The Los Angeles Lakers are the front runners to land Anthony Davis.

Pelicans general manager, David Griffin, would like to have a deal done by the weekend, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Lakers should do everything possible to keep Brandon Ingram. However, Ingram will probably be the first player the Pelicans will want in any trade involving Anthony Davis. There may be a third team involved in this trade. The suitors include the Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, and New York Knicks.

David Griffin said that he’s looking for a combination of assets, that include an All-Star player, two first round picks, and a young player with All-Star potential, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Out of the four teams listed above, the Lakers have the best package for the Pelicans. If the Nets sign and trade D’Angelo Russell, along with other assets, they could land Davis, but the Lakers will still have a better package than the Knicks, Clippers, and Nets.

The Clippers said they would not involve Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in a trade for Anthony Davis, so they don’t have many more young players that the Pelicans would be interested in.

The Pelicans have stated they don’t want Kevin Knox from the Knicks, and David Griffin did say he wanted an All-Star player, two first round picks, and a young player with All-Star potential. Brandon Ingram is that player who is young with All-Star potential.

Alvin Gentry has already said he loves the idea of pairing Jrue Holiday along with Lonzo Ball in the backcourt.

The Lakers will likely need to offer Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, a future first round pick, and possibly Josh Hart, but it will be worth it.

Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball have All-Star potential. Kyle Kuzma needs more work on his all-around game, and especially on the defensive end. But, Anthony Davis is a generational talent. If a team has the opportunity to trade for a generational talent like Anthony Davis, they should make the trade.

Imagine if Anthony Davis gets traded to the Lakers, signs a long term deal next summer with LA. Then, the Lakers land another star (Jimmy Butler, Kemba Walker, or Kyrie Irving). LeBron and the Lakers three-peat, LeBron retires with six rings, and the Lakers hold the record for the most championship in NBA history. That’s the dream scenario, but what an ending it would be to LeBron’s legacy, and the Lakers franchise.

If there needs to be a third team involved in the trade, it could be the Bulls, Wizards, Clippers, Nets, or Knicks. A deal should be in place by this weekend, setting up an exciting free agency this summer.

A lot of uncertainty going into this free agency, more than any other year, it’s going to be a fun offseason. If you didn’t know already, this free agency would feature Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Tobias Harris, Kemba Walker, Jimmy Butler, DeMarcus Cousins, Nikola Vucevic, Khris Middleton, and many others.

If they acquire Davis and Butler, then sign a veteran point guard, or re-sign Rajon Rondo, who has played with Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, and LeBron James throughout his career, that would definitely make the Lakers a playoff contender, and they will be a threat to all other Western Conference teams.
