Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis is looking forward to teaming up with his former teammate, DeMarcus Cousins, once again.

The Los Angeles Lakers overhauled their roster this offseason. They have nine new players on the roster right now and could have a 10th as they have an open roster spot. The frontcourt is where they will see the biggest change.

The Lakers landed a second star when they acquired Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans via trade. It cost Los Angeles a lot but has vaulted them into title contention.

Davis and LeBron James are one of the top pairings in the NBA. However, it will take more than just those two to get the job done. Rob Pelinka did an excellent job filling out the roster, and one of those players the team will be relying upon is DeMarcus Cousins.

Cousins has battled injuries the last two seasons, as he tore his Achilles with the New Orleans Pelicans and tore his quad with the Golden State Warriors during the 2019 NBA Playoffs. As a result, the market for Cousins was ice cold and the Lakers took full advantage.

The Lakers and Cousins agreed to a one-year deal for $3.5 million dollars. One reason Cousins committed to the Lakers was their acquisition of Davis, as the two are great friends and close.

"“Before he came to New Orleans, I knew him off the floor very well,” Davis noted during his introductory press conference. “And then on the floor for all the media attention he got for being emotional. I didn’t really see that. Me and him were really close.”"

Cousins played only 65 games with the Pelicans before suffering his injury. The duo didn’t last as long as hoped, but the two are now reunited in Los Angeles.

Davis is excited to be playing alongside Cousins again, as he really enjoyed playing with him during their time on the Pelicans.

"“I loved playing with DeMarcus. Obviously, we didn’t want it to end, but he had to move on and do what was best for him and his family. Now we have the opportunity to reunite in a great situation, so I’m excited about that.”"

Davis isn’t the only person excited to be paired with Cousins again. Fans have to be excited with the first look they have gotten of Cousins.

Cousins looks like he has been working hard since the NBA Finals ended. He looks to be in great shape and ready to return to the upper echelon of the center position. Being further removed from his Achilles injury should also help him get some of his explosion and athleticism back.

If Davis and Cousins can rekindle the chemistry and production they had in New Orleans, the Lakers are going to have quite a frontcourt. When you add in what James brings to the table, an argument could be made that the Lakers have the best frontcourt in the NBA.

Add in Kyle Kuzma, and the argument becomes even more difficult to be made against Los Angeles.
