3. He’s a very good three-point shooter

After finishing next-to-last in the NBA in three-point shooting each of the past two seasons, the Lakers needed help in that department, badly.

Who better to sign in order to rectify that than Green, who was second in the league in that department by making 45.5 percent of his three balls in 2018-19?

In his 10 seasons in the association, he has shot less than 36 percent from downtown only twice – his rookie season and in 2015-16. Including this past season, he has made over 40 percent of his treys five times, including four years in a row from 2011-12 to 2014-15.

He is outstanding from the corners, as he made exactly half of his three-point attempts from there this past season.

Plus, he’s a high-volume three-point shooter, as a whopping 69 percent of his overall shot attempts came from beyond the arc in 2018-19. That translates to 5.4 attempts a game.

Playing with both LeBron James and Anthony Davis should open up plenty of clean shot opportunities for Green on the Lakers. Especially since both averaged more assists per game than Kawhi Leonard last season.
