4. Marreese Speights

He may have been playing in the Chinese Basketball Association last season, but Marreese Speights, otherwise known as “Mo Buckets”, was still getting buckets overseas last season.

In China last season, he averaged an impressive 22.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists for the Guangzhou Long-Lions. Even against NBA competition, he lit up the Washington Wizards for 41 points in a preseason exhibition in October of 2018 and drained seven 3-pointers in that game.

Speights also has a ton of experience playing in the postseason, having been apart of the early years of the Golden State Warriors title run. That experience also made him an NBA champion, and he was also a key role player on the team that set a single-season record with 73 wins.

If the Lakers are looking for a bigger body that can space the floor and hit shots, then there might not be a better guy available on the market than Speights. He could help score off the bench, and almost be a very poor man’s DeMarcus Cousins with the ball in his hands if he gets his shot going.

After having a stellar star season in his one year in China, Speights has proven that he deserves another chance in the NBA. Maybe after this unforeseen turn of events, Speights can find himself with a deal on one of the NBA’s most glamorous franchises.
