Welcome to the third and final part of the 2019-2020 Los Angeles Lakers player ranking.

After going through the end of the bench, on through the rotation players in the last two articles, we have now arrived at arguably, the five most important players for this team. For a refresh on the last ten players in the ranking, you can check out players 15-11 here, and 10-6 here.

The unfortunate injury to DeMarcus Cousins threw a wrench into the team’s plans as they had to quickly pivot and sign Dwight Howard, which inadvertently changed the structure of this player ranking.

These next five players may not all be starting for this team, but their contribution and expected role with the team warrant a top five spot. As always, a little background on the selection process. I tried to take into account factors such as offensive and defensive ability, expected role on the team, and if the player is young enough, expected improvement in the off-season.

So if player X is a good defender, but a complete non-factor on offense, he’ll most likely rank lower than player Y who can contribute on both ends of the floor, but only at an average level.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s not stand on ceremony any longer, let’s get into the top-5 players on the 2019-2020 Los Angeles Lakers.
