– Center duo dominates

One of the things that has become clear in the preseason for the Lakers is the talent that they have at the center position. After the injury to DeMarcus Cousins, there was a lot of concern about who would replace him. While McGee was certainly good for the Lakers last season, he really isn’t equipped to be playing more than 25 minutes a night.

However, the addition of Dwight Howard looks to be a very good one so far. Howard is clearly showing that he is in shape and motivated to do well for the Lakers this season. The duo of him and McGee is shaping up to be a very good one, and this could result in Davis barely having to play center.

In the win over the Warriors, Howard totaled 12 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists in a great all-around effort. If Howard is going to be producing near this level this season, the Lakers are going to be in great shape at the center position.

While Howard might have received most of the attention, McGee played quite well once again as well. In 17 minutes, McGee totaled 11 points, five rebounds, and three blocks.

The combination of McGee and Howard has looked great for the Lakers so far. If this continues, the Lakers will have not one, but two men that they can trust at center this coming season.
