The Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers both have new duos for the 2019-20 season, but it is the purple and gold who have the superior duo.
People are very excited about the matchups this season between the Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers.
During Clippers’ media day, Paul George said he and Kawhi Leonard are the best duo in the NBA. He might have forgotten that LeBron James and Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers were right down the hall.
Both Los Angeles franchises have players most consider to be in the top 10 of the NBA. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are a devastating duo capable of performing on both ends of the floor. Anthony Davis is proven on both ends of there floor and LeBron James is motivated to show he’s still the best player in the NBA.
From an individual perspective, the Los Angeles Lakers duo has the advantage. James and Davis have a combined 21 All-Star appearances, 18 All-NBA and nine All-Defensive selections. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard don’t even come close to the Lakers star duo’s accomplishments.
The Clippers duo has a combined nine All-Star appearances, eight All-NBA, and nine All-Defensive selections. James and Davis are clearly more decorated and that isn’t even considering scoring titles or MVP awards.

LeBron and George have played each other 44 times. During those matchups, LeBron’s averages are 28.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.1 assist, 1.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks. George posted averages of 19.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.4 assist, 1,5 steals, 0.3 blocks.
During Kawhi and LeBron’s matchup’s we see a similar trend in LeBron outperforming this year’s Finals MVP. When they go head to head LeBron has averaged 25.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.4 assist, 1.7 steals, 0.6 blocks versus Kawhi’s 18.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.4 assist, 1.9 steals, 0.7 blocks.
Anthony Davis has faired well versus the Clippers duo also. Davis has posted career averages of 22.9 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.3 assist, 0.9 steals, 1.7 blocks vs Paul George and 20.7 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.7 assist, 1.5 steals, 2.3 blocks against Kawhi. George and Leonard don’t typically guard Davis but he’s had no problem against their teams.
Both teams are thrilled to have the superstar duos but I believe the Los Angeles Lakers have the edge with Lebron James and Anthony Davis.
