Los Angeles Lakers guard Avery Bradley was injured during Sunday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, but it doesn’t look like the injury is serious.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been bit hard by the injury bug thus far in the 2019-20 season. Even before things got going during the regular season, they were dealing with injuries.

Rookie Talen Horton-Tucker had a stress reaction going into the 2019 NBA Draft and still is dealing with it. Back in August, free agent signee, DeMarcus Cousins, tore his ACL while working out. It was the third major injury that Cousins suffered in less than two years. Undrafted free agent Jordan Caroline injured his foot and was waived as a result.

Kyle Kuzma returned to the court against the Dallas Mavericks as he was dealing with a stress reaction of his own suffered during training camp with Team USA. Rajon Rondo has yet to get on the court during the regular season as he deals with a sore calf.

Despite that, the Lakers are now 5-1 after defeating the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday evening. While getting the win was nice, the Lakers have to feel best about the fact they look to have avoided another major injury.

Avery Bradley, who has been starting at point guard for the team, suffered a lower leg injury against the Spurs. Luckily for the Lakers and Bradley, it does not seem like the injury is serious.

According to Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet, x-rays were negative on Bradley and he is considered day-to-day with a contusion.

It was unfortunate timing for Bradley, as he was in the midst of his best scoring game in purple and gold, as he had totaled 16 points, knocking down 7-of-9 attempts with one 3-pointer.

If Bradley misses time, the Lakers are losing a big part of their rotation. Without a traditional ballhandler, Bradley has been inserted into the starting five for his defense and floor spacing. Both things would be greatly missed if he is forced to miss games.

Unfortunately for Bradley, injuries have become the norm for him. The 63 games he played in last season is the fourth most he has played in a single season in his nine-year career.

The Lakers continue their road trip with a visit to the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night before returning home for the weekend.

If Bradley is unable to go in Chicago, Frank Vogel could turn to Alex Caruso in the starting lineup. He has given the team a jolt any time he is subbed in and brings some of the same intangibles to the court that Bradley has been providing. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who has begun turning things around, could also see more minutes.

Hopefully, Bradley’s injury is not serious, as being reported, and he is back on the court in no time. Los Angeles is already struggling to fill the point guard minutes, so adding another person to the injured list that plays the position is a difficult blow to overcome.
