4. Lakers versus the Dallas Mavericks on December 29th

The talk of the basketball world this season, has revolved around Dallas’ second-year phenom Luka Doncic. One of his most memorable moments of this season , so far, came when he lead the Mavericks to a win over the Lakers in Los Angeles, and hit a big time step back three right in LeBron’s eye.

The Mavericks are one of the three teams to beat the Lakers this season, and in the game that they lost to the Lakers earlier in the season went into overtime. That means round three should be another exciting game when the Lakers try to redeem themselves on their home court on December 29th.

The Luka vs. LeBron showdown seems like another passing of the torch type of meeting between two generational talents. It happened when Kobe faced Jordan, when Kobe faced LeBron, now Luka and LeBron? It could be too early in his career to draw those comparisons, but at this age Doncic is the closest thing to LeBron since he entered the league in 2003.

Both stars are also paired with their own version of a seven foot basketball freak that can do just about everything on the court. The unicorn Kristaps Porzingis did not get his nickname for no reason and has bounced back from his injury quite well, and Anthony Davis has expanded his game to be able to score from just about anywhere on the floor.

The Lakers against the Mavericks was a common playoff series back in the two decades prior to this one, and now it seems that this rivalry has been injected with some life. It used to be Kobe and Dirk causing everyone to tune in, and now it is must see television when Luka faces LeBron.
