The Los Angeles Lakers are looking into multiple free agents, one of them being Dion Waiters. Waiters is an intriguing option for the team to consider.
The Los Angeles Lakers don’t need to panic, after all, they have the second-best record in all of basketball. One smart move they can consider is signing Dion Waiters.
Waiters was involved in a trade last week that sent him to Memphis alongside James Johnson and Justise Winslow for Andre Iguodala, Jae Crowder, and Solomon Hill.
A few days later the Grizzlies decided to waive Dion Waiters.
With Waiters now a free agent there have been rumors that the Lakers are showing interest in the scorer. With Darren Collison deciding to remain retired the Lakers are short in options. Waiters is one they must consider and he will certainly be of help.
This season Waiters averaged 9.3 points in just 14 minutes. Waiters only played in three games. In those three games he was an impressive 8-of-17 from deep.

Last season he averaged 12 points on 38 percent 3-point shooting in 26 minutes.
He is only 28-years-old and will certainly provide the Lakers with a big scoring boost off the bench. Besides Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the Lakers don’t have many scoring threats off their bench. His improvement as a 3-point shooter makes him even more intriguing.
Waiters is a consistent double-figure scorer when given the opportunity. The Lakers can certainly use that off their bench. The Lakers don’t really have any holes, but one thing they are missing is another shot creator. Besides LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Kuzma the Lakers don’t have another guy who can get his own.
The one thing we know about Waiters is that he is a confident scorer who is not afraid of the big moment. His mentality is reminiscent of the likes of ex-Lakers Lou Williams and Nick Young.
The addition of Waiters will make things easier for a guy like Kuzma who draws a lot of attention when LeBron or Davis is not on the floor.
Rob Pelinka has to make a move and sign Waiters before another contender beats him to it.
