The Los Angeles Lakers duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis carried the team to a victory over the Boston Celtics on Sunday afternoon.
The Los Angeles Lakers took part in one of the best games of the NBA season on Sunday afternoon against the Boston Celtics. The long time rivals put on a show for the fans not only at the STAPLES Center but everyone who watched the matinee on television.
The Lakers won the game 114-112. While the Lakers didn’t blow them out as badly as they were blown out in Boston, it had to feel nice for these players to exact some revenge on their east coast rivals.
It was a hard-fought game between both teams. Jayson Tatum was on another level, scoring 41 points after having only one in the first quarter. However, no one else on Boston had an unearthly game. As a result, Tatum was unable to overcome the performance of the Lakers’ dynamic All-Star duo.
When LeBron James and Anthony Davis were paired up, fans get excited. Fans and the organization had dreams of what the All-NBA performers could do. Seeing those dreams come to life is a sight to behold.

James and Davis have had some dominant performances this season. But, when it occurs during such a high profile, nationally televised game, it just feels different. Without their contributions, the Lakers would have most likely been run out of the gym again.
Davis led the team with 32 points. The Celtics made him work for every point, as he shot only 10-of-25 from the field and turned the ball over six times. However, he did make 3-of-5 from the 3-point line and did get to the foul line 12 times, knocking down nine attempts.
Davis would also add 13 rebounds, three assists and two blocks to his stat sheet. This was the 25th double-double of the season for Davis.
James was not to be outdone by his teammate. He finished the game with 29 points on an efficient 9-of-19 from the field, knocking down 4-of-10 from distance. James went only 7-of-12 from the charity stripe, as his foul shooting continues to be an issue.
James rounded out his stat sheet with eight rebounds and nine assists. For a game as physical as this one was, James only had two turnovers in 35 minutes. He also scored the game-winning basket over Jaylen Brown.
Kyle Kuzma and Dwight Howard, off the bench, were the only other players to score in double-figures, as they accounted for 16 and 10 points. Rajon Rondo also had a good game off the bench, scoring four points with five assists and five steals.
The Lakers received just enough contributions from their role players to get the job done tonight. It was their star duo, however, that did the heavy lifting and pushed the team over the hump for a victory.
