The Los Angeles Lakers host the New Orleans Pelicans at the STAPLES Center on Tuesday night and we have all the information you need to enjoy the game!
The Los Angeles Lakers have been rolling come out of the All-Star break. They have won their first two games, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics.
As a result, they have run their winning streak up to five consecutive games. They have also won seven of their last eight, as they continue to put a stranglehold on the Western Conference, leading the second-place Denver Nuggets by five games.
Tonight, they will look to extend their winning streak, and lead, against one of the up and coming teams in the league, the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Pelicans have been playing some very good basketball of late as well. They have won two straight games and five of their last six. They are surging up the standings, as they are now only three games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth spot in the Western Conference. Tonight is the final game of their three-game road trip, as they defeated the Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors in the first two games.
This will be the second time this season that the Lakers and Pelicans matchup. The Lakers have won the first two meetings, winning the first game by four and the second by 10.
The matchups between these teams will be highly anticipated for years to come. With the blockbuster trade being completed between the two prior to the 2019 NBA Draft, they will be compared for the foreseeable future.
Anthony Davis has been great in the games against his old team, while Brandon Ingram has been great as well. Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart both are motivated to play against the team that drafted them, but this matchup will be different. That is because it is the first time the Lakers will face off with No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Zion Williamson.
Williamson has taken the league by storm since returning from injury. He has helped the team on track, as they have gone 7-5 in the games he has played in. He has been a difference-maker in those games, averaging 22.8 points on 58.6 percent shooting to go along with 7.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Williamson is sure to match up with Davis and LeBron James at points during the night. That is something for any basketball fan to tune in to see.
