With the NBA being suspended, Din Waiters will have plenty of time to get up to speed and give the team a boost when play resumes.

Unfortunately, the NBA was suspended March 11th due to the coronavirus concerns, potentially cutting short what was shaping up to be a great season for the Los Angeles Lakers. But, if the season resumes, Dion Waiters will be ready to help the Lakers.

At the time it’s unclear when the league will resume. It can be as early as late May or June. While all basketball fans are certainly going through difficult times, Lakers fans have even more reason to be disappointed. The Lakers have the second-best record in all of basketball at 49-14 and are coming off a pair of statement wins against the LA Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks.

This long layoff may actually benefit the Lakers for a pair of reasons. The first being that LeBron James (34.9 mpg), and Anthony Davis (34.3 mpg) get some rest. Imagine a refreshed LeBron and Davis once play resumes? That’s a nightmare for the rest of the league.

The second reason being that Dion Waiters will be ready to contribute for the Lakers. During this time off Waiters will get some workouts in with his teammates and get in-game shape.

It appeared Waiters was going to make his debut the week the NBA suspended all basketball activity.

People also forget that Waiters was teammates with LeBron in the 2014-15 season. Waiters played with the Cavaliers for 33 games before being traded to the Thunder. In those contests with LeBron, he averaged 10.5 points in 23.8 minutes coming off the bench.

The Lakers will get a big boost off their bench with Waiters. Waiters is a better shot creator than any Laker that’s not named Anthony or LeBron. He is also an improving shooter. He shot 38 percent from deep last season.

Waiters, alongside Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, will give the team instant offense.

Waiters isn’t afraid of taking big shots as he is filled with confidence. He doesn’t back down from anyone. The Lakers can use a player with his ability and mentality off their bench.

If there’s something the Lakers can improve on it’s their bench scoring. Waiters may provide the solution for it.
