Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James wants to finish career with team
During a recent Instagram live, LeBron James revealed that he would like to play out the remainder of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers shook up the NBA and basketball world when they landed LeBron James as a free agent in 2018. While the first season with James in Hollywood didn’t go according to plan, the second season has been everything they had expected and more.
James has gotten a new partner in crime in Anthony Davis for this season and the team has taken off. With the NBA suspending the season, the Lakers are currently atop the Western Conference with a record of 49-14. They are leading the Western Conference by 5.5 games over the LA Clippers, as they were rolling toward a No.1 seed in the playoffs.
Unfortunately, we won’t see James, Anthony or any Lakers on the court for the foreseeable future. With no games to be played, we are seeing a different side of players that we normally don’t see.
With the Lakers one of the teams currently self-quarantining after two players tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, we are seeing them more active on social media. One Laker who has been present on social media is LeBron James.
James has a huge following on every platform, whether it be Twitter or Instagram. Recently, James was passing time by sharing and watching highlights from throughout his career. This time, while on Instagram live, James dropped quite a bombshell.
During his most recent Instagram live, James revealed that he is hoping to spend the remainder of his career with the Lakers.

"What NBA team would I never play for? I’m still playing, man. Hey, I’ve got to keep all my options open, man. But right now I’ll tell you one thing: I don’t want to go nowhere besides be here, baby. Be a Laker for the rest of my life."
James said something similar about being in Cleveland, but those plans changed over time. So, there is a chance that his outlook changes again when he becomes a free agent again in the summer of 2022.
While James didn’t remain in Cleveland for the remainder of his career, Lakers fans have to be excited about him even considering remaining in Los Angeles through the end of his playing days.
The Lakers have a young superstar in Anthony Davis that James can lean on once his skills begin to erode. While he has staved off Father Time thus far, no one has defeated him yet. So, having a player as talented as Davis to help carry the load is a situation plenty of veterans would sign up to be in.
James’ goals off the court are also aided by being in Los Angeles. He has plenty of business ventures that will be aided by being in a market such as Los Angeles. In addition, his family seems to be comfortable and enjoy being in Los Angeles as well.
Those are a lot of factors working in favor of the Lakers retaining James once his contract expires if he wishes to continue his playing career. It would be difficult to envision him uprooting his family again or staying away from them for the NBA season.
