3. LeBron James sweeps his former teammates — Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans Pelicans, March 1, 2020
There were fireworks in the arena every single time the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans squared off this season. Touted as a potentially exciting first seed-eighth seed playoff matchup, there were so many different dynamics in play in each of these games.
In the first matchup, you had the return of Anthony Davis to the Pelicans after getting his trade out of the Big Easy over the summer. In the second matchup, you had the return of Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart to Los Angeles.
In the third matchup, you had the highly anticipated matchup of Zion Williamson and LeBron James. Williamson is viewed as the most hyped rookie since LeBron and was four years old when LeBron made his NBA debut.
In the fourth matchup, we had an Anthony Davis-less Lakers team that was looking to take the season sweep against a team that many were saying was a dangerous first-round matchup for the Lakers.
LeBron was fantastic in the third game against the Pelicans and he was even better in this game. He scored 34 points alongside 13 assists and 12 rebounds and led a fourth-quarter effort that saw the Lakers outscore the Pelicans by 10 to win a closely contested game.
This was the fourth-highest game score that LeBron would record all season, with the game that finished one spot behind this game taking the number two spot on the list.
