LeBron James is the name that makes the NBA news cycle go but Lake Show Life tends to go against the current. The question about LeBron James’ motives to play come into question. The complete breakdown starts here!

Here are some updates from Lake Show Life concerning the NBA hiatus up to this point. May sound redundant, but roll with us because it will make sense shortly.

  • The NBA season is at a complete standstill with the coronavirus (Also known as COVID-19).
  • No one knows when or if the season will resume.
  • Thankfully all players (Four Nets players and two Lakers players) that were in the Staples Center the last time we saw the Los Angeles Lakers play are cleared of the virus of this writing.
  • NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver and other high-ranking leaders in the NBA front office have taken 20 percent pay cuts.
  • The NBA players may have to take 25 percent pay cuts to put into escrow which is considered fair by the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement.

Guess what? That will be the NBA news of the day tomorrow unless something MAJOR happens. Now let’s discuss why this list is up there. The NBA news media have officially run out of ways to spin this.

They have run out of debates that have run its course before the suspension in the first place. The rerun games of this season and NBA past do not have the same vibe of the potential playoff energy that was growing.

How bad is it?

According to Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes, the NBA is scheduling a NBA 2K Tournament to be on television. Seems harmless right?

The NBA news cycle is so desperate for news that Ronnie 2K, who is coordinating the event, stepped out of bounds and called former Lakers center, DeMarcus Cousins a name one wouldn’t say in Boogie’s face on a live stream. Or in the same city, state or country.

It seems some frustrations from Ronnie 2K stemmed from a streaming device Cousins was supposed to receive was apparently not delivered, delaying his participation in the tournament. Granted Cousins got an apology (Seriously, wouldn’t you?) and social media is now either cracking jokes about Ronnie getting beat up or taking bets on when he will be fired.

Sadly, Lake Show Life was not surprised that the DeMarcus Cousins experiment did not work but his cryptic messages on Twitter is top-notch.

This is now your daily NBA news cycle courtesy of Lake Show Life. You’re welcome.

The other news in the NBA is how in the world can games get played without the parties involved spreading the virus. Jay Williams had a scenario that he thought would work. Any other week in our lifetimes, Williams would have been discredited for this idea. But considering the NFL draft has nothing to do with the NBA, it was actually a discussion.

The former Duke star, NBA player and current ESPN basketball analyst floated this blueprint on “Golic and Wingo” on Monday.

"“Maybe if you can take two of those massive cruise ships, and there’s testing before everybody goes on the ship,” Williams began. “You allow the player and their immediate family being that wife or their kids are allowed to go with them. “And you have an Eastern Conference cruise ship, and you have a Western Conference cruise ship.” “You never really go to shore. You stay out on the cruise ships. You build two courts on those cruise ships. … Team members and their family members could be isolated to a degree for that span — if that’s 40 days, whatever it may be. “You go right into the playoffs. Maybe give a week for each team to prepare. But you go right into that for the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. And then you have the championship game on a cruise ship.”"

Well, the desperation to fill 24 hours of NBA content is in effect. Anyway, it didn’t take Fox Sports’ Doug Gottlieb to actually say what many sports fans were thinking.

There were other things of magnitude that Gottlieb mentioned concerning baseball that shows the timeline of when the NBA could return at the latest.

  • The city of Toronto has canceled any public gatherings until June 30th.
  • The Toronto Raptors are a playoff team that carries a major storyline in this year’s playoffs.
  • The NBA season will start best case scenario on July 1st. The season can’t start without the defending NBA champions.

So now what? What is the one subject that will possibly even hold an NBA fan’s attention for more than 5 minutes much less an article or broadcast?

If you mentioned LeBron James, two points for you. Congratulations.

Lake Show Life owes a lot of its exposure (Writer included!) to LeBron James. He is the most polarizing figure of this generation. Nothing stirs up social media more than the G.O.A.T. conversation between LeBron and Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan. A discussion that Lake Show Life has dealt with. Our takes are here.

On Michael Jordan:

LeBron James: Is he right to claim the GOAT title for himself?

On Kobe Bryant:

Kobe Bryant passes away, it’s time for Lakers Nation to unite eras!

Now that the mainstream media tried to stoke the fires with a debate on if LeBron James had a chance to catch Giannis Antetokounmpo for MVP didn’t go anywhere, “Operation scrape the bottom of the barrel” went into effect.

Ric Bucher had a lot to say this week about LeBron James and his motives about finishing the season.

Just hit the purple button. It’s an all-time take, believe it.
