Derrick Rose trade scenario

Two of Flint, Michigans finest sons return to Motor City.

A  perfect trade scenario for both sides.

The Lakers land an expiring contract and a potential 3rd star in Derrick Rose who allows for the Lakers to be even more competitive next season and still not rule themselves out of the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.

The Detroit Pistons land two native sons. One who has the potential to be a future star in Kuzma and another who solves the Pistons Center hole for less than $5m a season.

McGee would have to opt into his player option for next season for this trade to happen.

Another benefit for the Detroit Pistons is that they would have control over whether Kuzma leaves when the time comes as he is a restricted free agent, something that Derrick Rose is not.

A match made in heaven for both teams.

The Lakers would also keep their 1st round pick this year that they could potentially use in further trades to strengthen the squad or even just to draft a young prospect who they believe could be impactful moving forward.

Another big win for the Lakers is that they don’t hand over Alex Caruso or Talen Horton-Tucker who in most trades were considered key pieces in order to get a deal done.

Kuzma as a prospect should be enough to get Rose to the Lakers and it would be a very easy sell for the Pistons to market two homegrown talents coming home.

Something which Kyle Kuzma in the past has stated that he very much wants to do.

A Kyle Kuzma and Blake Griffin frontcourt sounds like an interesting combination.

So why would the Lakers make a move for Derrick Rose and how would he help the Lakers?

Here are 3 reasons why Derrick Rose would help the Lakers.
