The Los Angeles Lakers could find good value in one year contracts this offseason.

The Los Angeles Lakers get ready to ramp up the 2020 offseason. They have some holes to fill, as some of their players hit free agency. They will try and bring back Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and possibly Dwight Howard.

But players could’ve priced themselves out of range for the Lakers, such as Rajon Rondo. So it will be imperative the team follows a similar blueprint they did last offseason. Looking for players that can be bargains on one year deals or a second year player/team option.

It worked for them last season as they won the NBA championship. Now with this offseason, they can look to follow the same script. Then possibly in 2021 make a surprise run at Giannis Antetokounmpo as mentioned here.

But with future free agency aside, this is a time for the Lakers to try and get better. Their draft assets after this season get very thin. So using this time wisely to help give LeBron and AD enough weapons is vital.

These are guys that could provide value on small deals. They won’t include names that we have mentioned on mid-level exceptions, bi-annual exceptions and such. So players like Danilo Gallinari, Darren Collison, Serge Ibaka and so forth are off the table.

It remains to be seen what management wants to do in terms of the tax. They can continue to ride with staying under it. Or they could decide to go into it. That could be a Chris Paul or Russell Westbrook trade which seems highly unlikely.

So with that we go into five options the Lakers can look at on the free agent market to give one year deals too.
