1. Thon Maker

The safer route would’ve been to go Aron Baynes, but he went to the Raptors. The price was also too high and the fit isn’t the best. Thon Maker is a player who came into the league with a lot of upside but has since bounced around.

Baynes graded out with a negative DBPM last year of -0.8 and Maker came in with a positive 0.7. LeBron and AD could help turn Thon’s career on the right track in an offense that gets out in transition. They can help get him to his comfortable spots and play his game without much pressure.

Schröder is very good at working with bench guys as the ball handler as well and the fit could be good. After not being tendered by the Detroit Pistons, Maker could make for an easy snag with good potential. The team got an asset for McGee, now they can get a backup center.

Maker can shoot a little and his length and athleticism at the position can help the team.

Next. Should the Lakers extend Kuzma next offseason?. dark

Regardless of who it is, the Los Angeles Lakers should look to add some depth after flipping McGee for Gasol.
