2. LeBron James signs a two-year contract extension

Chalk this one up as something that nobody saw coming. At least not this year.

LeBron James, who was still under contract through next season, signed a two-year extension to show his faith in the Los Angeles Lakers. This showed Rob Pelinka the type of commitment that James hasn’t been known to give in previous years.

LeBron James appears to be enjoying his tenure in Los Angeles thus far. Not only is he on a championship team with Anthony Davis, but he is also able to see his son, Bronny James, play high school basketball. It also helps that his many business dealings are based in Los Angeles.

It seems that fans weren’t the only ones blindsided by the news of LeBron James’ extension. Anthony Davis revealed to Spectrum Sportsnet that he heard the news the same time everyone else did.

The contracts signed by both LeBron James and Anthony Davis appears to end the speculation surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo, but being able to lock both superstars up long-term is completely worth it.
