There are some myths related to the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers prior to opening night.
The Los Angeles Lakers kickstart their 2020-21 season against the same team that they started last season against — the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers lost the first game of the season to the Clippers last year and haven’t beaten the Clippers on opening night since 2013.
This is a really compelling matchup to kickstart the 2020-21 season. The Lakers are the defending NBA Champions but have undergone a roster change that is unusual for a team that just won the title two months ago.
Meanwhile, the Clippers are more or less the same with two new faces: Luke Kennard and Serge Ibaka. This was the matchup that we were supposed to get three months ago in the Western Conference Finals but to no avail.
Laker and Clipper fans have developed a decent rivalry over the last few years and leading into this opening night game there are some myths associated with the Lakers and Clippers.
These are narratives that I personally have seen swirling around NBA Twitter, mostly among Clipper and Laker fans in the oh-so-fun Twitter debates.
These myths pertain directly to how rosters of the two teams directly compare, so as much as I would like to rant about how much they overpaid for Luke Kennard, that does not really relate to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Let’s get into this myth-busting — Discovery Channel style.
