The Los Angeles Lakers have the best power forward on the planet in Anthony Davis! Happy New Year!
Lake Show Life would like to preface this analysis with the fact that Anthony Davis is suffering from a calf injury.
Lakers Nation can rejoice in the fact that Anthony Davis is the best power forward in the world. They can carry an argument that his skillset actually on the level with Kevin Durant. If anyone disagrees strongly with this statement obviously did not watch the game or spent 2020 living under a rock.
Years ago, the late Daryl Dawkins (R.I.P. on Love-Tron, Chocolate Thunder!) said in an interview that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had him waking up screaming… “Sky hook!”…”Sky hook!”.
Jakob Poetl will wake up screaming ANTHONY DAVIS…ANTHONY DAVIS! AD took his confidence, professional look and will be carrying it on the plane to Memphis. He destroyed him. Then he whipped Drew Eubanks.
From now on, every time Anthony Davis sees Jakob Poetl on a basketball court he sees barbecued chicken rolled over the coals slowly. Jakob Poetl on the other hand just needs to run.
AD made it a point to be aggressive in this game and at the end of the night, the Spurs got served with a season high 34 points (13-26 shooting 4-7 from distance!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.
Jakob Poetl’s stats:
In 20 minutes, Poetl took one shot. Missed it. He took four free throws. Missed all of them. Had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 turnovers.
Drew Eubanks’ stats:
In 23 minutes, Eubanks took three shots and missed them all. Had 5 rebounds, 3 blocks and an assist.
In short, the San Antonio Spurs big men scored as much as the Lake Show Life readers in this game!
Davis destroyed these two every time they matched up. In the end, San Antonio had no choice but to match Rudy Gay up against him. He didn’t stop AD either, but at least he put points on the board. AD was just that dominant. LaMarcus Aldridge, who has held out with knee soreness probably wouldn’t have helped.
Anthony Davis is not back to where he was before the injury, but he is finding ways to work through the injury.
While Anthony Davis laid waste to the Spurs frontline, LeBron James showed why having a championship pedigree is important on nights when the team does not play well. Read on to see what he did!
