Los Angeles Lakers’ “don’t fret” Western Conference teams:

Utah Jazz

Spoiler alert: there are three contenders from the Western Conference that I included on this list and the Utah Jazz are the only one that I would not fret about if I was the Los Angeles Lakers. Yes, I am not overly concerned about the current number two seed in the conference.

Quite frankly, I think the Jazz are the most overrated team in the league right now. That is not to say that they are a bad team, but I think people are falsely grouping them into this elite group of teams because of this one 11-game win streak that the team went on.

Obviously, 11-game win streaks do not come very often and are worth praise. However, the Jazz beat a lot of bad teams on that run and got hot early in the season. That does not make them a threat in the NBA Playoffs.

The win streak was against the Bucks, Pistons, Cavaliers, Hawks, Nuggets, Pelicans twice, Warriors, Knicks and the Mavericks twice. The only two teams that are really impressive on that list is Milwaukee, who has started slow, and the Nuggets, who also have started slow.

I just think the Lakers are a matchup nightmare for Utah. Anthony Davis always goes right after Rudy Gobert and cooks him and the Jazz do not have anyone to guard Anthony Davis. The Lakers have better depth and the Jazz are a defensive-minded team that are worse defensively than LA and far worse offensively.

The Lakers are 3-0 against the Jazz with an average margin of victory of 14.3 points. That is not a coincidence.
