Los Angeles Lakers’ Western Conference threats:

Los Angeles Clippers

Yes, the Los Angeles Clippers are legitimate threats. I know it is almost sacrilegious to write anything positive about the Clippers on a Lakers blog but we have to be objective with what we see. The Clippers are playing dang good basketball and there is a reason why they are the first seed in the West.

Kawhi Leonard is quietly putting together MVP numbers and is not receiving the buzz that he deserves and Paul George has really stepped his game up.

If Marcus Morris and Luke Kennard get hot from beyond the arc then the Clippers are a really tough out in the NBA Playoffs. I personally like the Lakers’ depth more and the star duo in LA is much more proven in the playoffs, but I would not count out the Clippers.

This is the year where we finally get the Lakers-Clippers Western Conference Finals. I can feel it.

Denver Nuggets

I think the Denver Nuggets are a bigger threat than the Utah Jazz despite what the records say. I like the trio of Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic and Michael Porter Jr. more than the trio of Donovan Mitchell (overrated), Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley.

Denver is a potential nightmare matchup for the Lakers and is the main reason why LA needs to look to bring in another center. If Marc Gasol gets into early foul trouble or gets hurt and the Lakers have to run Montrezl Harrell against Nikola Jokic then they are in serious trouble.

Next. 5 bigs that can help Marc Gasol. dark

We already know how that story goes — it was part of the reason why the Clippers blew a 3-1 lead against Denver last season.
