Greatest Lakers of all time: 45- Brandon Ingram

  • 3 seasons, 190 games
  • 13.9 PPG
  • 4.7 RPG

Fans grew impatient with BI because they expected that the #2 pick of 2016 would dominate play immediately. But the willowy 6-8, 190-pound Ingram needed time at age 19 to allow his multiple skills to develop.

He increased his scoring average from 9 to 16 and then to 18 points in his three Lakers seasons. His field goal percentage also rose each year, and his passing became more precise. He was starting to prove the Lakers had chosen well.

It was no secret around the league that Ingram was a star in the making. When the Lakers traded for Anthony Davis, New Orleans insisted that Brandon had to be included in the package of players it would receive. He was named to the All-Star team in his first year with the Pelicans and deserved strong consideration for a place on the team again this year.

But since the Lakers received back a superstar in AD, and won a title in his first year with the team, it worked out well for both teams.
