Andre Drummond will have time to acclimate himself on the Los Angeles Lakers

It is done.

The Los Angeles Lakers added another star-level big man in his prime to the roster, as they load up for another run at the championship.

In an unlikely scenario when the season began, but more and more feasible as the trade deadline was looming, LA has signed Andre Drummond to a ridiculous less-than-$1-million contract.

In an NBA that seems to be subtly and slowly reverting to the two-big-men format someway, Pelinka secured in his frontcourt two of the best in the game.

AD is by now a well known element in Los Angeles. Drummond arrives in the midst of one of the best seasons of his career.

In Cleveland, before sitting out in await to be traded or bought out, through 25 games he averaged an outstanding 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.6 steals in less than 30 minutes (!).

What a couple they will be once together. Drummond will allow AD to keep playing at his favorite 4 position, adding toughness, rebounding and defense.

Unfortunately, it still looks a pretty long way before we will be able to see them together. Davis is going to miss extended time with the calf injury that kept him out so far, and the Lakers do not want to take any chance with his health.

Although unfortunate, this could turn out to be a favorable condition for the insertion of Drummond in the lineup. Without the Brow, the center will have the time to get accustomed to the new system in an expanded role, with the difficult but teaching task to play the leading guy part in the offense and be taken accountable for team’s success.

This will push him to give his best effort and learn as quickly as he can the system, how to fit and play with his new teammates.

By the time James and Davis will be back, Andre will have grasped the basics for the difficult role and be more effective on a reduced one next to his superstar teammates.
