Los Angeles Lakers: Who could possibly replace Dennis Schroder?

Dennis Schroder recently rejected the Los Angeles Lakers‘ offer of a four-year, $84 million contract extension. This, of course, makes things a bit different for the Lakers, especially when the off-season comes along.

The team will have various other free agents as well such as Montrezl Harrell (player option), Alex Caruso, Andre Drummond, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Markieff Morris.

So who could possibly replace Dennis Schroder on the Los Angeles Lakers?

Well, Chris Paul has a player option with the Phoenix Suns after this season. I am sure that will all depend on where they finish this season. Paul is 36 years old but has played well this season. Once upon a time, Chris Paul was a Laker… but that didn’t last too long now did it? You can thank David Stern for that one.

Mike Conley and Kyle Lowry will be available. However, the Lakers should steer clear of Lowry for sure. Conley has been playing solid with the Utah Jazz and has been a nice addition for them. I can’t see them letting him go, to be honest. Lowry is 35 and Conley is 33. If I had to choose between the two, I would rather have Conley.

Earlier in the season, I was hoping the Los Angeles Lakers would make a move for Derrick Rose. He still is durable and has been able to change and adapt his game a bit, especially after the tenacious injuries he suffered.

He would have been a nice addition to the roster. Rose will be available at the season’s end. However, could he really take on the full-time job of being the next Lakers point guard?

Another player that will be available will be former-Laker, Lonzo Ball. To be honest, I liked Lonzo a lot. Sure, there were holes in his game but he was young and had a lot to learn. That being said, he seems to have improved a bit and is still growing.

Could the Los Angeles Lakers actually think of bringing him back? Tough to say because after all, they drafted him with high expectations and then traded him away for Anthony Davis.

Victor Oladipo is another player that will be available. Oladipo has been on the move this season. He started the season in Indiana but was traded to Houston and then was traded to the Miami Heat. Depending on how things work out, he may be looking for a team in which he can play for long term. His style of play would fit nicely for the Lakers.

After that, it gets rather interesting. Patty Mills, Avery Bradley and Spencer Dinwiddie are some of the names left on the list. I think the Lakers will revaluate their offer to Dennis Schroder and perhaps attempt to meet him somewhere else.

I can’t understand why he wouldn’t want to be part of a team that has the potential that the Lakers do but then again, I’m not him. I don’t really think he is going to get a better offer than what was offered to him already.
