Dennis Schroder has been an interesting player to follow on the Los Angeles Lakers this season. On one hand, Schroder was one of few positives for the team while both Anthony Davis and LeBron James were out. On the other hand, Schroder turned down a four-year, $84 million contract offer from the Lakers which was probably a bit over-priced, to begin with.

The acquisition of Schroder was still phenomenal. The Lakers flipped one year of Danny Green, who needed a change of scenery, and the 28th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft for Schroder. Regardless of what happens, what Schroder has given the team this year is far more than Green could have given.

That being said, Dennis Schroder should be removed from the Los Angeles Lakers’ starting five.

Lake Show Life contributor Jonathan Kiernan pitched someone else to start at the point guard position in his recent article detailing what the Lakers’ playoff starting five should be. Surprised at first, the idea made a lot of sense and I wanted to piggyback on Jonathan’s decision and go into more detail.

Whether you love Schroder or not, it will benefit the Los Angeles Lakers more to move him to the bench for the NBA Playoffs. It may seem redundant, so here are three reasons why this would be such a savvy move by Rob Pelinka.
