LeBron James is completely right about the play-in tournament

Look, there are many things the NBA has wrong about today’s game. If we look at it carefully, we can pull so many things that are incorrect or just plain silly about the game. LeBron Jamesrecent comments about the NBA’s new play-in rule is right on point as it is once again, one of the more moronic things to come about and has many like myself scratching their heads.

It’s bad enough the recent NBA game is built on a platform that pushes for players to not hustle back on defense, or play defense at all, to be quite honest; as well as dismantling the big man from the game and having things such as defensive three seconds which have only hurt the game.

They have, in return, turned the game into a nonstop and endless shooting extravaganza where teams will take three-pointers over and over regardless of how bad they are shooting from the area.

They have also watered down the more physical aspect of the game and therefore have made it more of a flag football type of sport. That being said, I feel even flag football is a reach because players seem to not even be able to go up against each other physically. You can’t even breathe in  a player’s direction without the whistle being blown and a foul being called it seems.

Why LeBron James is right about the play-in tournament:

The play-in tournament absolutely makes no sense whatsoever. The seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth seeded teams will have to play against one another at the end of the regular season. The seventh and eighth-seeded teams will have to face each other to see who will be the seventh-seeded team for the playoffs.

The ninth and tenth seeded teams will have to face each other. The loser of the seven-eight game will play the winner of the nine-ten game and the winner will be the eighth-seeded team in the playoffs.

Huh? What? Yeah, my thoughts exactly.

What is the point of this exactly? Whatever happened to the best eight teams in each conference get to the playoffs? I guess working hard for an entire season really doesn’t pay off anymore now, does it?

Especially when you have something SILLY such as this to determine who will be the last two teams to make the playoffs in each conference.

Here’s a thought, if they really wanted to kind of extend the playoffs, why not just make it ten teams a piece from each conference? That way the number is still even and the playoffs shall go on a little longer.

LeBron James sure was correct in his feeling and comments when asked about this play-in thing. This is just another poor attempt to ruin the wonderful structure of a game that has already been watered down. What is going to happen next, teams with losing records will be given an automatic 20 points going into the start of a game against a team that is better then them?

Or maybe a player that is considered a star on a team will only be allowed to play a certain amount of minutes per game or will only be allowed to commit five fouls instead of six.

This kind of reminds me of the “everyone gets a trophy no matter how bad they played” type of thing. It is just one more thing in that category. This also is a slap in the face to the eight teams in each conference that have worked hard and improved this season. Doesn’t quite go along with complete fairness now does it?

Seems to remind me of taxes to tell you the truth where you are taxed on the money you have worked for and fairly earned. In this case, if you finish seven and eight, it still is not good enough and you have not earned your place in the playoff tree. Think about the logic of all of this.

In other sports such as the NFL, thank god they now changed it to 14 teams making the playoffs. They too should up that to 16 teams. After all, there are 32 teams total, why not make it 16? It would be similar to the NBA allowing for 10 teams a piece to make the playoffs. At the end of the day, this would just help to extend the season. Wouldn’t that be great for all involved?

I fear what is to come next with NBA rules. I was happy to hear LeBron James speak out on his opinion about this. After all, he knows what a long and hard season the Lakers have had with all the injuries and whatnot, and this wrench thrown into the mix of things just makes it even harder for them if they are in fact the seventh-seeded team when the regular season comes to an end.

At this point, the Lakers are one game behind the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers. They face the Houston Rockets tonight as LeBron will return. Hopefully, they will move up in the rankings and get out of the seventh seed.

That being said, I hope this craziness only lasts for one season and they don’t dare do this again. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel! It cannot happen.
