The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off of a big win over the Miami Heat, which was the team’s second straight overtime victory. This gave the Lakers a 7-5 record on the season while also being the first big win against a contending team this season.
The level of competition is not the same in the Lakers’ Friday night game as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota is 3-7 on the season and appears to be well on its way to yet another lottery pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
However, if we have learned anything with the Lakers this season it is not to take any opponent for granted. Vegas definitely knows this as well, as evident by the betting line for the Lakers’ home game against Minnesota.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Timberwolves odds, spread, over/under:
According to WynnBET, the Los Angeles Lakers are only two-point favorites over the Timberwolves. The Lakers are -125 moneyline favorites while the Timberwolves are only +105 moneyline underdogs. The over/under for the game is set at 223.5 points.
LeBron isn’t playing in this game but he has not played in the last four games. Standout rookie Austin Reaves is also not going to play, albeit that does not feel like enough of a reason for the Lakers to only be two-point favorites.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Timberwolves prediction:
This line feels like a trap line but I just do not see how the Lakers do not cover the two-point spread. Sure, the Lakers have struggled this season but they are still a far better basketball team than the Timberwolves.
I get being cautious with the Lakers and I definitely would be cautious with this game but this is essentially a pick-em. If the Lakers are going to win they are going to win by at least two and there seems to be a really good chance that the Lakers win.
MUST-READ: 3 former Lakers who are off to red-hot starts
This is the weirdest line of the entire season for the Lakers and it could be a big opportunity for anyone who feels comfortable enough. I am going with Lakers -2 and under 223.5 points.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Timberwolves TV channel:
This is not a nationally televised game so fans in the LA market can watch it on Spectrum SportsNet.
Los Angeles Lakers schedule and upcoming games:
The Lakers have two more games on this homestand as they take on the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls in a back-to-back on Sunday and Monday. The Lakers then have a day off before heading on the biggest road trip of the season thus far.
The Lakers start the road trip against the Milwaukee Bucks and then get an easier slate of games against the Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers.
