Ten of the 24 players to record a triple-double for the Los Angeles Lakers only did so once. Some of these players are all-time greats, others recorded fluke triple-doubles that you may have forgotten about.
Slater Martin, 1955
As a member of the Minneapolis Lakers, Hall of Famer Slater Martin recorded just one triple-double in his career. He did so in 1955 when he scored 20 points with 14 rebounds and 10 assists.
Hot Rod Hundley, 1960
Hot Rod Hundley’s NBA career just lasted six years (all with the Lakers) and he was able to record one triple-double. In 1960, the guard scored 17 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Walt Hazzard, 1966
Guard Walt Hazzard spent just three seasons with the Lakers and was able to record a triple-double in his last year with the team. It came in the first game of the 1966-67 season when he scored 12 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assits.
Jim Price and Connie Hawkins, 1974
Most Laker fans probably do not know the names Jim Price or Connie Hawkins, although Hawkins is a member of the Hall of Fame. Both players recorded a triple-double for the Lakers in 1974.
Jamaal Wilkes, 1978
The Hall of Fame Laker recorded just one triple-double in the purple and gold and it came in his first season with the Lakers when he scored 17 points with 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
Sam Perkins, 1993
Sam Perkins did not spend much time in his long career with the Lakers but he was able to record a triple-double with the team. He scored 16 points with 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
Gary Payton and Karl Malone, 2004
Hall of Famers Gary Payton and Karl Malone spent just one season with the Los Angeles Lakers and were both able to record a triple-double with the team. It is some consolation prize for that Lakers team falling short.
Steve Blake, 2014
Yes, Steve Blake recorded a triple-double with the Lakers. He scored 11 points with 15 assists and 10 rebounds in February of 2014.
Rajon Rondo, 2019
The last player to have a solo triple-double, Rajon Rondo scored 24 points with 12 assists and 10 rebounds in March of 2019 against the Clippers in his best game as a Laker.
