1. Trading Anthony Davis for Damian Lillard

This trade would be a dream scenario for the Lakers, one however unlikely is at the very least worth exploring.  Portland is headed in a new direction and has already parted ways with C.J. McCollum who had some great moments for the Pelicans in their run to the playoffs. Now the question is will Lillard finally leave Portland this offseason?

There is no questioning that Lillard is a star or what he has accomplished in this league. Despite the lack of playoff success, Lillard has had iconic playoff moments that have helped establish him as one of the stars in the league.

On the Lakers roster he would instantly become even more popular and one of the faces of the league. The Lakers would have a star point guard capable of carrying the team when LeBron needs a night off or if he is dealing with an injury. Lillard is a deadly shooter who can play off the ball and help the Lakers stretch the floor.

From Portland’s perspective, this trade should only happen if Lillard demands his way out. We have watched this play out with Ben Simmons and with James Harden recently today’s stars carry a lot of power. If Lillard decides he wants to leave Portland and join the Lakers it will carry at least some consideration with Portland.

Teams that trade stars rarely win the trade in this scenario, however, the Blazers are getting a great fit for their team in Anthony Davis and a player to build their defense around. Portland is headed in a different direction under Chauncey Billups. Davis fits that culture and would be one of the best players Portland could be offered if forced to trade Lillard.
