10 Players the Los Angeles Lakers should be targeting this offseason
By Nick Halden
2. Markieff Morris
Markieff Morris was a part of the Lakers for two seasons before spending the majority of last season injured with the Miami Heat. Morris cannot be an integral part of your bench, however, he can be a contributor and a tone-setter for a Lakers team who lacked an edge.
When the Lakers won the championship in the bubble they were a tough defensive team who wasn’t to be messed with. Morris was a part of that tone and would be a great offseason reunion for Los Angeles.
At this point in their careers, we know who the Morris brothers are and what they are about. They are this generation’s version of enforcers who are going to play tough defense and be the first off the bench to protect their star.
Bringing Morris back at the 9th or 10th man on this roster would be a win and give Morris meaningful minutes on a team hoping to be a championship contender. Morris isn’t a great scorer but will help improve the Lakers’ defense and toughness.
Markieff Morris coming back to Los Angeles feels right for both sides and would give Morris a chance to rebuild his value after missing most of the season with the Heat.
