Most fans want to see the Los Angeles Lakers make some kind of trade at the deadline. This Lakers team has shown serious potential in flashes and passing off the chance to improve would be disappointing, to say the least.

The trade market has been slowly forming with a deadline just under a month away. For the most part, the same sellers that exist now are the same teams that many expected to be sellers. However, the list of sellers could certainly expand.

All it takes is a few bad weeks right before the trade deadline for marginal teams to commit to selling off their assets. There are three teams that are currently on that trajectory that the Lakers should monitor.

3 teams that could become new sellers for the Lakers:

1. Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks are currently 19-22 and have lost seven out of their last 10 games. The season was already not going as planned for Trae Young and co. and if this cold streak continues then we may see the team bite the bullet and trade assets.

Atlanta would not become full sellers as they are not close enough to the bottom of the league to tank for someone like Victor Wembanyama. However, with the team giving its 2025-2027 picks to the San Antonio Spurs, we may see a retooling that adds more assets and improves where the 2023 pick will wind up.

John Collins’ name has been in trade rumors for over a year and he becomes the most obvious player that could be moved. However, he is not someone the Lakers could realistically bring in unless it was part of a Russell Westbrook trade, which is unlikely.

Instead, we could see role players like Justin Holiday or Bogdan Bogdanovic get moved for assets at the deadline. It won’t warrant huge returns but that is what makes them realistic for the Lake Show.
