The Los Angeles Lakers kickstarted their Grammays road trip on a bad note as the team fell in overtime to the Boston Celtics after an abhorrent missed foul call on LeBron James.

Los Angeles continues its long road trip on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets. Brooklyn and Los Angeles were viewed in a similar light entering the season and the Nets have been the better of the two teams. Brooklyn is 30-19 this season while the Lakers are 23-27.

Both LeBron and Anthony Davis have already been ruled out of this game to significantly reduce their star power. This made the Nets a nine-point favorite despite Kevin Durant’s knee injury, which raises the question…

Kevin Durant injury status tonight vs Lakers:

While the Nets being a nine-point favorite may indicate that Durant is going to play, he is indeed still out of commission for the time being. Durant is not going to suit up in this game but he could be returning sooner than expected with Shams Charania reporting that there is optimism that Durant will return before the All-Star break.

Kevin Durant injury history:

Kevin Durant is dealing with an MCL sprain, which is the exact same injury he suffered last season. This season’s injury seems to be going better than last year’s but the Nets are still struggling without their star forward.

Brooklyn is 3-6 since Durant’s injury and has only won one game by 10 or more points.

Full Nets injury report vs Lakers:

Durant is not the only player on the Brooklyn Nets that is listed on the injury report against the Los Angeles Lakers. T.J. Warren has been listed as doubtful while Ben Simmons has been listed as questionable.

Full Lakers injury report vs Nets:

On top of not having LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers may be without other key players as well. Austin Reaves is still out of action with a hamstring injury that will be re-evaluated next weekend. Lonnie Walker IV, who is day-to-day, is listed as probable.

Lakers upcoming schedule and opponents:

Los Angeles has three more games on the road trip before returning home for a two-game slate. It is likely that LeBron will break Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s all-time scoring record during that two-game homestand.
