2. Moritz Wagner

The biggest thing that could keep this from happening is the fact that Moritz Wagner is playing with his brother Franz on the Orlando Magic. Franz is the better brother and there is a good chance that the Wagner brothers simply want to stay together. It is not like Moritz Wagner is going to get a big deal this offseason.

But that is why he potentially makes sense for the Los Angeles Lakers. As well as this roster was constructed at the end of last season, the team was still a bit thin in the frontcourt and didn’t have great options with size to play next to Anthony Davis.

Wenyen Gabriel was fine and Mo Bamba was not even trusted to be part of the regular playoff rotation If the Lakers could get someone that can both play next to Davis as well as play when he is off the court then it would be big.

Wagner could be that player for the Lakers. He offers a center option off the bench but also can essentially operate as a four next to Davis. The two players would be interchangeable with AD getting the ability to essentially play power forward on defense and center on offense.

If all the Lakers are looking to add is a veteran center that can rebound and block some shots then Wagner is not the guy. But if they want to unlock more potential with their frontcourt depth then they should give a hard look at the former 25th overall pick.
