LeBron James surpassed Michael Jordan's record for the most career 30-point games in NBA history during the Los Angeles Lakers' 119-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. James finished the game with 30 points, eight assists and three rebounds. LeBron and the Lakers' primary focus is on winning games, but it still was a special moment. However, Anthony Davis, who is from Chicago, roasted James after he accomplished the impressive feat.

"It bothers me," Davis said sarcastically, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. "It took him seven more seasons."

After Davis and the reporters laughed, AD gave a more serious answer.

"Growing up, I was more of LeBron... That was my era," Davis continued. "That's obviously a h*ll of an accomplishment. Think he's probably number one in everything at this point. I've been here long enough to witness so many accomplishments... I'm definitely grateful to be here."

The greatest NBA player of all-time conversation is obviously quite popular among fans and analysts. LeBron James and Michael Jordan are often considered to be the two best players ever, but the debate often centers around which player is the greatest of all-time between James and Jordan. Surpassing Jordan's 30-point record will only help LeBron's argument, but there are plenty of Jordan fans who will remain loyal to the former Chicago Bulls superstar.

Despite dealing with some injury concerns, LeBron has still played an impactful role for the Lakers at 40 years old.

LeBron James' impact on Lakers in 2024-25 season

James is having a down season by his lofty standards. LeBron's play would be a memorable season for most players, though. The Lakers superstar is averaging 24.1 points per game on 50.7 percent field goal and 38.2 percent three-point shooting. He is also recording 8.9 assists and 7.4 rebounds per outing.

LeBron has continued to accomplish impressive feats over the years. He is still playing at a high level with the Lakers. LA has played a quality brand of basketball in recent action as well, as the Lakers are now fourth overall in the Western Conference with a 20-14 record. If LeBron James and Anthony Davis can stay healthy, the Lakers should be able to seriously compete in the West.

Although Davis took an opportunity to roast James on Friday night, he clearly appreciates playing alongside LeBron. The Lakers duo would love nothing more than to win another championship during the 2024-25 season.
